About Us

The Bahamas Sickle Cell Association is dedicated to advocating and encouraging continued research for a cure for Sickle Cell Disease while working to enhance the quality of healthcare, life and services for individuals and families affected by this disease.

Our Mission

The Bahamas Sickle Cell Awareness Association was founded by a group of passionate individuals, including patients, caregivers, medical professionals, and community advocates, who recognized the need for a united effort to address the impact of sickle cell disease. Our diverse team brings together a wealth of knowledge, personal experiences, and a shared determination to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected.

Our Mission

At the heart of our organization lies a simple yet profound mission: to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease through education, advocacy, and community engagement. We strive to create a better understanding of the challenges faced by those living with sickle cell disease and work towards fostering a compassionate and inclusive society.

What We Do:

Raise Awareness

We are dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of sickle cell disease throughout the Bahamas. Through workshops, seminars, public events, and media campaigns, we aim to dispel myths, provide accurate information, and promote early diagnosis and intervention.

Support

Living with sickle cell disease can present various challenges, not only for the patients but also for their families. We offer a strong support network that includes counseling services, peer support groups, and resources to help individuals navigate their journey with the disease.

Advocacy

We are committed to advocating for improved healthcare services, policies, and resources for individuals with sickle cell disease. By collaborating with medical professionals, government agencies, and other stakeholders, we work to ensure that the needs of the sickle cell community are recognized and addressed.
